Support Lancashire on Saturday

Last year, Lancashire County Council rejected 2 applications by Cuadrilla to frack, at locations between Preston and Blackpool.

On Thursday we heard the deeply disappointing news that Sajid Javid, the Communities Secretary, had decided to allow fracking at Preston New Road, and that he is minded to allow fracking at Roseacre Wood, subject to the Public Inquiry being reopened. The government has shown that they don’t care about the impacts fracking will have on people and the environment, or about local democracy. This may not be the news we wanted to hear, but we must continue to make our voices heard until the destructive shale gas industry is stopped.

Please join us this weekend!

On Saturday, anti fracking groups in Lancashire are asking as many people as possible to go to join them at the Preston New Road site as they react to the ruling, whichever way it may go. See the Facebook event here.

If you are able to travel to Lancashire please do so. If you would like to go but need help with transport please let us know.

A picture speaks a thousand words. If you can’t make the journey but want to show your support…

Join us at 1pm this Saturday 8th October for a quick press-call!

Frack Free York will release a statement to convey our reaction to the Lancashire decision. We want a lovely picture of our supporters to go with it!

Meet at the statue of Constantine outside York Minster – Saturday 8th – 1.00-1.30pm.

Come as you are and bring anyone you like – this is a family friendly meet so children are welcome! If you have banners or placards, you could bring those too.

Remember, the more people who turn out, the more powerful the image will be. Let’s show them that York cares about this decision – and our friends and allies in Lancashire.
