Peaceful demonstration outside Environment Agency fracking meeting

Members of a number of Yorkshire anti-fracking groups, including Frack Free Ryedale, Frack Free North Yorkshire and Frack Free York are staging a peaceful static demonstration on today, Friday 9th January, from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Third Energy to apply to frack in Kirby Misperton

On Tuesday 25th November Third Energy announced that they are intending to apply for permission to frack their existing KM8 well-site at Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire.

According to Third Energy, the first consultation will identify areas of potential environmental impact for the Environmental Risk Assessment for the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). This will be followed by wider public consultation on the project, prior to submitting the planning application.

City of York council passes anti-fracking motion!

York has become the latest local council to declare itself frack free.

In the full local council meeting this evening, councillors voted on an anti-fracking motion put forward by Labour Councillor Anna Semlyen. It was passed with a vote of 23 for, 11 against with 5 abstentions.


Government ignores 99% of respondents to DECC trespass consultation

Oil and Gas companies will be able to frack below homes in the UK without their owner’s permission after the UK Government decides to ignore responses to the Department of Energy and Climate Change consultation on the proposed changes.


Success! Anti-fracking motion to be debated at York full council meeting

On 25th September, York Labour Councillors voted for motions include in the agenda of the next full York council meeting. We are pleased to say that the anti-fracking motion passed and will be debated at the next meeting on Thursday 9th October.
